About Me

Hi, I'm Taylor!

I'M A TEXAS THERAPIST WITH A PASSION FOR COUPLES, RELATIONSHIPS, & MOTHERHOOD

I'm the owner and therapist here at Foundations Counseling & Wellness, and I'm so happy you're here. This practice, and my job as a therapist, is completely dedicated to creating a warm and inviting space for people to be their authentic selves – whatever that looks like.

I became a therapist because I've always been obsessed with stories. Whether it's a great book, a movie, or even a small moment between two people at the grocery store, I love a story. One of the greatest privileges I have as a therapist is the ability to be a witness to your story. Not only that, but I have the honor of providing support, encouragement, and empowerment at those points in your story where you may need it most.

My two primary areas of specialization are motherhood and couples, but I hold space for anyone in my therapy room. I think that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important factor in healing, and that's where I invest a lot of my time. If you feel safe and heard, I know you can meet your goals

The point of all of this is that being a therapist means more to me than just my degree on the wall. In fact, I consider it to be so much more than my day job – it's one of the most profound honors in my life. I created Foundations Counseling & Wellness with the hope of providing a space that feels safe, warm, and worthy of your trust.

What I'm known for:

PROVIDING CLEAR STRATEGIES & SKILLS

CLEARLY SEEING RELATIONSHIP PATTERNS

BEING WARM AND DIRECT

NOT TAKING SIDES

SAFETY & AUTHENTICITY

Education & Credentials

This is the boring but important part, so bear with me. I'm Taylor Schwarz, MS, LPC-Associate (supervised by Allison Hunter, LPC-S). I graduated from Southern Methodist University with a master's of science in clinical mental health counseling. There, I studied couples and family counseling with a primary focus in marriage therapy and individual therapy for people dealing with pregnancy loss, postpartum mood disorders, and infertility.

I completed Level 1 and 2 training through the Gottman Institute and received a certificate in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders from Postpartum Support International. I am an LPC Associate in the state of Texas, currently under the supervision of Allison Hunter, LPC-S. I'm a big believer in the idea that I am constantly learning with my clients. That means that I am consistently exploring new methods of therapy and bringing them to session!

The fun stuff

WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF THERAPY?

You will probably find me hanging out with my family, trying a new recipe, reading a good book, or starting a new home renovation project that I probably won't finish (my husband LOVES this one)

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS?

Thai food, a warm cup of coffee, late-night binge reading, starting new projects (Enneagram 7 problems), and the rare days when we have chilly weather in Texas
