Relationships

POSITIVE CHANGE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Couples Therapy

Whether you're in a period of missed communication and conflict, or you're just looking for a relationship "checkup", couples counseling can be a great way to reconnect with your partner in a safe, non-judgmental space that's geared toward your joint goals. In couples counseling, there's no taking sides and no winning. Instead, it's all about building mutual understanding and finding a path forward that works for both of you.

Areas of
Focus

I use an eccletic approach to couples counseling, bringing in ideas and techniques from Gottman, Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Relational Life Therapy (RLT). In non-therapy speak, that means that I have a lot of tools in my toolkit that I bring out depending on the individual needs of my clients. My goal as your couples counselor is to help you understand your partner, find solutions that work for both of you, and build a mutually fulfilling life together.

Improving communication

Reducing conflict

Building mutual understanding

Discussing values differences

Navigating challenging life transitions together

Co-parenting

Falling back in love

Dealing with family differences and conflict

Infidelity and emotional affairs

Grief and loss

Sexual issues

Growing together rather than apart

Making life-changing decisions

Deciding on a divorce

Planning for the future

Managing joint finances

Structure & Fees

I utilize the Gottman Method for my initial structure and assessments for couples counseling. The structure is as follows:

Intake Session

This session is 75 minutes long and will be an introduction for all of us. We'll talk about your goals for couples counseling and what to expect from the process. You will also be given a comprehensive Gottman relationship checkup assessment, which will help us all understand the things happening in your relationship and areas for intervention. The cost of this initial session + assessment is $215.

Individual Sessions

Each of you will have an individual 50 minute session with me. This session gives me a chance to hear your individual perspective and learn more about your goals for couples counseling. Each of these sessions are $100.

Joint Sessions

After the individual sessions, we will come back together and do sessions all together. Most sessions are 50 minutes long, unless you request longer sessions. I may occasionally recommend individual sessions during our work together, as needed.

Premarital Counseling

Let's face it: engagement can be stressful. Not only are you supposed to be head over heels in love, but now you've got to plan a wedding, deal with family, make big life decisions, and the list goes on and on and on. Premarital counseling can help you navigate all of these new stressors while also setting the stage for a relationship that will continue to thrive as you grow together.

I've created an all-new premarital counseling curriculum that draws from the major couples counseling theories. That means you'll get to learn all of the fundamental relationship skills that will help you in your relationship now, and thirty years from now. This curriculum will help you and your partner work through concepts and learn skills in the areas of:

Communication

Conflict management

Values & beliefs

Attachment

Healing past hurts

Compromise & problem solving

Trust & commitment

Division of labor & responsibilities

Expectations for parenting

Sex, intimacy & affection

Financial management

Friendship & having fun together

What You'll
Learn

This course is open to couples from all religions (or lack thereof), all sexual orientations, or simply anyone who is looking to commit to a lifelong partnership. The goal of this course is to explore your values as they relate to the relationship, and we can actively incorporate any values that are meaningful for you.

Couples Intensives

Are you and your partner struggling with communication or feeling stuck in your relationship? Couples therapy intensives offer a transformative solution. These focused sessions, often spread over several hours or days, provide a deep dive into your relationship’s challenges, allowing for meaningful progress in a short time. Unlike traditional weekly therapy, these couples therapy intensives immerse you both in dedicated, high-impact sessions designed to address urgent issues and foster lasting connection.

Why Intensives
Work

I offer 5-hour Friday intensives, and 3-hour Saturday intensives throughout the year. Each intensive is based on your individual needs and includes a comprehensive Gottman assessment. Pricing is based on the length of the intensive, ranging from $750 - $1,250.

Immediate Impact

Couples therapy intensives can offer a significant immediate impact because they immerse couples in therapy for extended periods, allowing for rapid progress. This format can address urgent issues more effectively than traditional weekly sessions.

Comprehensive Approach

The extended format allows therapists to address a broader range of issues in a shorter time frame, which can be beneficial for couples needing intensive support or dealing with complex problems.

Retention & Implementation

Some studies suggest that the condensed nature of intensives can lead to better retention of therapeutic techniques and strategies, as couples are engaged over a longer continuous period.
